Tony Stewart Hospitalized With Back Injury
- Updated: February 2, 2016
Three-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart has been hospitalized with a back injury. The story was first reported and later confirmed by the Associated Press. His condition will not be reported until Thursday at the latest according to the report.
A team spokesman told The Associated Press that Stewart was injured in a non-racing accident on Sunday and it was due to a ATV incident that occurred over that said weekend. The extent of the injuries is unknown, but he is being evaluated in an undisclosed hospital and able to move all extremities.
Stewart is retiring at the end of this upcoming NASCAR season. He will turn 45 in May and missed a third of the 2013 season with a broken leg he sustained in a sprint car accident. It is unsure if he will miss time due to the injury, but he may not miss as much considering how less serious the injury appears.
