Tyler Johnson Scores in OT to Give Lightning 4-3 Win in Game 5

The Pittsburgh Penguins hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 5 at Consol Energy Center on Sunday night.

Bryan Rust was denied on a break by Andre Vasilevskiy, but Brian Dumoulin shoved in the rebound with under a second left in the first period.

The Penguins led 1-0 after 20 minutes, outshooting the Lightning 8-4.

Patric Hornqvist shoved home the puck off Carl Hagelin’s redirection, collecting his seventh goal of the playoffs to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead 1:30 into the second period.

Alex Killorn picked up the loose puck and sniped his shot top-shelf past Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, bringing the Lightning within a goal at 13:15.

Nikita Kucherov tied the game after receiving a pass from Vladislav Namestnikov and burying his 10th goal of the playoffs at 14:25.

Evgeni Malkin’s shot was stopped, but Chris Kunitz was there for the rebound to put the Penguins ahead 3-2 at 19:10.

The Penguins led 3-2 after 40 minutes, outshooting the Lightning 21-13.

Kucherov corraled the puck behind the Penguins’ net, skated in front and tallied his second goal of the game on a wraparound. The Lightning tied the game 3-3 at 16:44, forcing overtime.

Just 53 seconds into overtime, Jason Garrison’s wrist shot from the circle deflected off Tyler Johnson and into the net, giving the Lightning a 4-3 win over the Penguins in Game 5.

The Lightning lead the best-of-seven series 3-2.

Andre Vasilevskiy made 34 saves for Tampa Bay. Marc-Andre Fleury made 21 saves for Pittsburgh.
