Ezekiel Elliott Will Win NFL MVP In 2017
- Updated: February 2, 2017
The 2017 NFL MVP Award Is Calling Ezekiel Elliott’s Name
What a season it was for Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas Cowboys. Not only did the rookie running back manage to run for over 1,600 yards, but he did it with consistency. Elliott averaged over five yards a carry and totaled 16 touchdowns in 2016. He had a stellar year and I believe there’s much more to come in 2017. Ezekiel Elliott is primed to make a run for the 2017 NFL MVP.
Elliott will continue to thrive in this Dallas offense because it is built to run the football. With stud players at each skill position in this offense and the league’s best offensive line, Elliott will shine. As long as the offense remains intact and healthy, Elliott should be able to make a great impact in every game. He’s young, full of energy, and has an outstanding passion for the game.
The Cowboys might not give him 392 touches, as they gave DeMarco Murray a few seasons ago, but I believe his carries will increase to around 375. If this were the case he’d be receiving over 50 more carries and at five yards a carry that would likely result in around 250 more yards.
If Dallas ends up winning at least 10 to 12 games and Elliott is putting up similar numbers as he did his rookie season, there’s no doubt that he will win the NFL MVP award. I expect him to earn around 1,800 to 1,900 rushing yards and maybe 300 to 500 receiving yards. That could be a total of around 2,100 to 2,500 yards as a whole. Add about 12 to 20 combined touchdowns and that’s the icing on the cake.
Elliott will run away with the MVP award as long as the Cowboys feed him the ball and they are winning games. If he’s doing all this and they fail to earn a winning record, you can forget about it. In all honesty if the Cowboys are winning it will likely be because of what Elliott is providing for their offense.
It’s difficult to see a reason to believe that Elliott won’t win the award in 2017. The way in which the Cowboys are built perfectly suits his style of play and maximizes his true potential. Elliott is the perfect running back for an NFL team regardless of who’s around him. When you put three pro bowl caliber lineman in front of him and an offense with several weapons, he’s going to do great deal of damage.
Ezekiel Elliott will be the NFL MVP in 2017.
