Premier League

Premier League

With the Premier League coming towards it’s crunch time, we take a look back at some of the stand outs this season. From Chelsea to Sunderland, which players have impressed in the Premier League this season.

 GK: David De Gea

The Manchester United stopper has had another great season. De Gea has arguably been the best goalkeeper in the world over the past two seasons. His performances between the sticks for the Red Devil’s have been nothing short of spectacular. He has carried on last seasons form into this season, saving United’s blushes on numerous occasions. United will be desperate to keep hold of the Spaniard amidst interest from Real Madrid.

Right Back: Seamus Coleman

With a lack of top quality full backs in the world at the minute the left and right back position are a hard choice, but Seamus Coleman is definitely a shoe in. Coleman has scored 4 goals this season and assisted 3. His team have kept 10 clean sheets. The Irishman has been consistently brilliant for Everton since he signed from Sligo Rovers in 2009. Coleman’s brilliant season has been cut short by a horrific leg breaking challenge by Neil Taylor, but he can be proud of his performances up until this point.

Centre Backs: Gary Cahill + David Luiz.

Both players have been magnificent for Chelsea this season. Cahill has adapted brilliantly to Antonio Conte’s three back formation after having a terrible season for the London club last season. Luiz, on his return to the Premier League has replied to his critics in style with some of the best performances of his career. The pair will be one of the main reasons Chelsea clinch the title if they do so.

Left Back: Marcos Alonso

An Unknown to the majority of fans outside the Premier League prior to this season, Marcos Alonso has been a revelation. The Spaniard has been deployed as a  left wing back this season and has arguably been one of the Chelsea’s best performers.. Alonso has 4 goals and 2 assists this season, including a brace against Premier League champions Leicester City.

Defensive Midfielders: N’golo Kante+ Ander Herrera

N’golo Kante, the gift that keeps on giving. The Frenchman, who burst onto the scene with Leicester last season, has proved he’s not a one season wonder this year. Kante has been Chelsea’s best player this season, with one emposing performance after the next. Herrera has been much the same. A constant torn in the oppositions back, controlling United’s midfield and dragging Paul Pogba alongside him.

Left Wing: Eden Hazard

The Belgian has returned to his best this season after his poor campaign last year. Hazard on form is one of the best in the world and this season is one of his best. With 11 goals and 4 assists so far this campaign, the Belgian is a shoe in for player of the year

Attacking Midfield: Kevin De Bruyne

Jose Mourinho’s biggest mistake continues to prove him wrong. City will have De Bruyne to thank this season if they are to finish inside the top four, he has been the only one of their players who has truly performed. De Bruyne is the second highest goal creator in the league this season, trailing only to Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Right Wing: Sadio Mane

The Senagalise international has become one of the most feared players in the Premier League this season. His pace and power frightens defenders and the addition of goals to his game this season makes him a more dangerous player then he ever was at Southampton. 13 goals in 5 games is the tally for Mane this season, and he has just scored against Everton in the Merseyside Derby.

Striker: Romelu Lukaku

21 goals in 29 games, magnificent. Lukaku has been just that this season. This season puts to bed any doubts about his talent, he is the real deal. Having recently turned down a new contract, Lukaku will have no shortage of offers in the summer. Everton fans will be hoping to keep their man. With Lukaku comes goals, with goals come trophies.
