Dustin Pedroia Back From The DL

After right hander Blaine Boyer was sent to the 10-day DL with a neck strain. In return, second baseman Dustin Pedroia was activated. He returns to a Red hot Red Sox team, who are on a six game winning streak. One of the longest tenured players on the Red Sox. Pedroia is the veteran leadership on the team, and with how young this core of guys are. It’s going to be good to have Pedroia back in the lineup to help guide all these younger players, especially at such a pivotal point in the season. Pedroia can help these young players really develop and help them stay collected.

Dustin Pedroia

Undoubtedly the most sound all around player on the team, Pedroia brings a lot to the table such as; Base running, consistent hitting and stellar defense day in and day out. Leading the team in two offensive categories, average and on base percentage. His average is an astounding .307 and an impressive OBP of .381. He also ranks top three on the team in hits with 103 hits. Not much of a power guy, seeing that he only has 6 home runs and a SLG % of only .411. Although, who needs power when you can get on base almost every single at bat.

Pedroia’s Contributions

Like I had stated earlier Pedroia is the best contact hitter that the Red Sox have to offer. Having him at lead off would be the best idea for a lead off man. Being able to get on consistently and with a great eye, it’s quite difficult to find someone else within the organization. Now as for his defense he is one of the better defensive men in the league with only 1 error on the season, and a fielding percentage of .997 just speaks volumes to the overall type of player he is. A very balanced guy on both sides of the field. Who has proven time and time again why he is one of the best players in the league.
