Justin Turner Sent To The 10-Day Disabled List

Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman, Justin Turner has been sent to the 10-day disabled list after injuring his hamstring rounding the bases in Thursday night’s game. Turner tried to score on a single by catcher Yasmani Grandal in the seventh inning.

Turner says after taking his second or third step past third base he started feeling it. After the game he went to get an MRI and it turned out to be a grade 1 strain, which is normally not an injury that sidelines players for long periods of time. Turner is already starting the rehab process. After the game on Thursday Turner did a strength test, which is a good sign.

Turner was asked about the injury on Friday:

“I actually felt worse this morning than I expected, so the MRI results coming back the way they did was a very positive thing. I did a strength test last night that was pretty good. That was a good sign, but did a strength test again after the MRI and that was a good sign.”

The last time Justin Turner had a hamstring injury was back in 2014. Although only a part time player at the time, according to Justin the injury only caused him to miss 15 days. This will definitely hurt the Dodgers at the plate. Turner’s start to the season has been fantastic. He boasts a league leading .379 batting average with 17 RBIs.

Once again the injury bug has come back to hurt the Dodgers this season. Turner will join Logan Forsythe, Franklin Gutierrez and Kenta Maeda on the DL.

Outfielder Brett Eibner has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to replace Turner.
