In 2 weeks time at Chicagoland Speedway, Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace Jr will return to the Xfinity Series. He will be behind the wheel of the number 98 Biagi-Denbeste Racing Ford, with sponsorship from Nickelodeon.

Wallace Jr has a history with Nickelodeon. Last year, he ran a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles car. At Talladega in 2015, he also ran a Spongebob Squarepants car. His 98 car this weekend won’t go unseen; it’s bright green to promote Nickelodeon slime.

Wallace’s Turbulent 2017

2017 started for Darrell Wallace Jr in Daytona Speedweeks. He was slated to run the full Xfinity Series schedule. After the race at Pocono in June, his number 6 Roush Fenway Racing team had to shut down due to lack of sponsorship.

For 4 of the next 5 races, he was in Richard Petty Motorsports’ iconic 43 car. He was subbing for the injured Aric Almirola. He had a best finish of 11th. After Almirola returned, Bubba was without a ride.

At Michigan last month, Bubba had a 1 race deal in the Truck Series for MBM Motorsports. He capitalized on this offer, winning the race.

Now, Biagi-Denbeste Racing will offer Bubba a 1 race deal in a partnership with Richard Petty Motorsports. While only a 1 race deal, Bubba is certain to be a contender in Chicagoland.

The Xfinity Series race at Chicagoland Speedway will serve as the regular season finale. Currently, there are 8 drivers locked into the Xfinity Playoffs by either wins or points. The Chicagoland race will be on Saturday, September 16, at 3:30 PM EST.

As stated earlier this week, Darrell Wallace Jr is a free agent driver for next year.  It was stated previously that RPM is looking for sponsorship to bring Bubba back into a second car. Due to this deal being arranged in conjunction with RPM, these rumors resurfaced. Only sponsorship will land Bubba in the Cup Series. However, Darrell Wallace Jr has more than proven himself worthy of a full-time Cup ride.
