Devin Booker Shines against the 76ers

Devin Booker scored a season-high 46 points in Monday’s win against the Philadelphia 76ers. During the first quarter, Booker only shot two-for-eleven for a total of four points.  Booker was still determined to power back and lead the Suns to victory.

The Sun’s guard told NBA.com about his slow first quarter, “Shooters never stop shooting, said Booker. “I’ve been living by that motto since I was three years old.”

The former Wildcat scored a total of 14 points in the first half and carried the Suns to a 13-point lead at halftime.  After the half, the 21-year-old scored 13 points in the third quarter and an astonishing 19 points in the fourth quarter.  The Suns won 115-101, beating the 13-10 76ers.  Many expected the Philadelphia to dominate the Suns at Wells Fargo Center, but the 9-16 Suns proved them wrong.

Last night was the second time the 6-foot-6 guard scored over 40-points in a game. The first time was last March, against the Boston Celtics, when he scored a record-breaking 70-points. So far this season, Booker has ten 30-point games the most by any player in the Sun’s franchise history. He now joins LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo with the most 30-point games in the NBA.

He is only 21-years-old playing his second season in the league and shocking many with his natural talent.

Azcentral reported, “I’ve been in the league for a long time and when you see special you know it,” center Tyson Chandler said. “And this kid is special. He’s going to be special for a long time.”

The former Kentucky guard tries to ground himself in the midst of all his success.

Booker told NBA.com: “I’m just staying the course honestly. Each and every day I want to get better. There are more things I have to work on, turn around this franchise, starting to get wins and making the playoffs. Whatever I have to do that, I’m with it.”

The Suns look to become a competitive team in a stacked Western Conference.  The upcoming guard is motivated to catapult this Suns team to victory.  Beating an amazing 76ers team gives fans hope that the Suns can compete with the best.  Perhaps, 21-year-old Booker will become the new face of the franchise and help the Suns reclaim victory.

Only time will tell, the Suns look to carry this great momentum against the Toronto Raptors Tuesday night.
