Will Arsene Wenger leave Arsenal at the end of the season?

London, England – Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated his future will be sorted in a board meeting after the FA Cup final against Premier League Champions Chelsea.

There has been a lot of debate throughout the season over Wenger’s future at the Gunners. He signed a two year deal at the Emirates after guiding his side to a 4-0 win over Aston Villa in the 2015 FA Cup final.

The Frenchmen is out of contract this summer and there has been unrest among the Arsenal supporters this season. There have been several protests from the supporters calling for Wenger to leave throughout the season.

However the 67 year old has already said he will continue to be a manager beyond the season. He would prefer to continue on at the club he has managed since 1996. The board may also prefer to keep Wenger on at the club with many of Europe’s top mangers already in employment.

Will finishing in the top four affect Wenger’s future?

Arsenal have played many important fixtures during Wenger’s tenure. However none of those games could be as vital to him as Arsenal’s final two games of this season.

Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates on Sunday in the last game of the Premier League season. They need to win the game to have any chance of finishing in the top four.

A win for Arsenal would put huge pressure on Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s reds host Middlesbrough on the final day and know if they fail to win then Arsenal could overhaul them and take their place in the Champions League.

If Arsene Wenger guides his side to another season of Champions league football he will have increased his chances of remaining in charge at Arsenal.

However failure to do so could force the board to think about other options. While Arsenal have been consistently finishing inside the top four there has been little appetite to change from the board. This may no longer be the case if the club miss out on the huge amount of money the Champions league brings.

Will winning the FA Cup affect Wenger’s future?

Whether they finish in the top four or not the FA cup final on 27 May could determine his future. If Wenger can mastermind a victory over Chelsea he will claim a record seventh FA Cup winners medal.

It would also be their third FA Cup win in four seasons. Although the Gunners haven’t won the league since 2004. If they lose this final then it would seal another season without a major trophy. This coupled with failure to finish in the top four would make it difficult for Wenger to stay on.

Arsene Wenger may stay or leave in the summer but whatever happens he deserves to be commended for his time in charge at Arsenal.
