A look back at the talking points of the premier league this weekend.

City thrash Liverpool.

Manchester City delivered a harsh wake up call to Liverpool on Saturday. City ran out 5-0 winners against ten men Liverpool. Sadio Mane received a red card for a high boot on City keeper Ederson.

Gary Neville, who was commentating on the game, stated that referee John Moss had “ruined the game”. Jamie Carragher had the opposite opinion. Carragher thought the decision was just and that Mane did indeed deserve the red card. Goals from Aguero, Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus saw City run out 5-0 winners.

Stoke stop United’s perfect record.

Manchester United’s horrible record at Stoke goes on. The Red Devils could only muster a draw against a strong Stoke side yesterday evening. United conceded their first goals of the season, both scored by Erick Chupo-Moting. Lukaku added to his tally for United. The Belgian scored from a rebounded shot, the original was saved by Jack Butland. Marcus Rashford scored again, by accident. Paul Pogba’s goalbound effort ricocheted off the youngsters head into the net. The result means United’s perfect record is now gone. They remain top of the league on goal difference. Jose Mourinho shunned a handshake with Mark Hughes after the game. The pair had an altercation on the touchline during the match.

Morata scores again.

Alvaro Morata is making waves towards justifying his price tag. The Spaniard scored again for Chelsea against Leicester. Morata has 3 goals in 4 games for Chelsea. The Londoners have shrugged off their bad start to the season with wins against Spurs and now Leicester. Eden Hazard made a return to first team football with a cameo.

Arsenal returned to form with a 3-0 win over Bournemouth. Goals from Danny Welbeck(2), And new boy Alexandre Lacazette gave the gunners the win.

Spurs ran riot against Everton. Harry Kane proved he just doesn’t score in August with a brace against Everton. Wayne Rooney played despite his recent actions in personal life. Christian Eriksen also scored for Spurs.

Brighton continued their great start to the season with a 3-1 win over West Brom.

And in the first game of two today, Burnely have defeated Crystal Palace 1-0. The result with only add to the mounting pressure on new Palace boss Frank De Boer.
