Conor McMGregor Retiring? Reactions.  Mixed reactions from those in the world of MMA, and is it true?

UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor has shocked the fighting world today, as he announced that he is retiring from the world of Mixed Martial Arts. Six hours ago, McGregor took to Twitter to post up the news, saying:

I have decided to retire young. Thanks for the cheese. Catch ya’s later.

Since then, MMA fans and insiders alike have shared their thoughts about the news, some saying that he was running scared after his loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196, while others were saying that he was “trolling” the media by saying he was retiring.
Nate Diaz took to his Twitter to troll McGregor, by saying in a tweet:
“I guess my work here is done I’m retiring too”
The interesting thing is that the two were set to square off again at UFC 200, this time, with the title at stake, but, it is perceived, at least by some, that there must have been some sort of a falling out between McGregor and UFC President Dana White, which may have led to McGregor’s decision.
UFC Commentator Joe Rogan gave his thoughts on the announcement, as he was filming a podcast earlier today, where he went from simply believing that McGregor wouldn’t just walk away from the sport, to, well, you can read on, here is the transcript, which was shared by SB Nation (WARNING: It is unedited):

“Oh no.”

“‘I’ve decided to retire young. Thanks for the cheese. Catch yas later.’ Conor McGregor? Aw, he’s trollin’.”

“Fuck yeah, yeah.”

“Yeah, he’s decided to retire young. Which means, like, 34.”

“Listen man, Unless he got fuckin’ head kicked today and knocked into oblivion, the idea that he’s going to go out on a loss like that to Nate Diaz… Look he’s got plenty of cash, if he wanted to retire young and step away… I mean, I guarantee you he probably made somewhere in the neighborhood of $5 million bucks for the Jose Aldo fight. He probably made more than that for the Nate Diaz fight. I would imagine, after he’s spent a fuckload of it, he’s probably still got a few million bucks laying around. He’s a hero in Ireland, he could always make money, he could always run a gym and be fine. But, if I had a guess, this doesn’t make any sense.

“The only reason why it would make sense, the only reason why it would make sense is Conor had actually thought about retiring from MMA before he got the call from the UFC. There was a point in time where he had some friends that were experiencing some serious health issues from fighting. And then most recently, that young man from… The Portugese guy died in an MMA contest which I think took place in the UK.”

“I think he trained with the Portugese guy that died recently. It is entirely possible in that sense. But, if I had a guess, there’s no way he’d do it like this.”

As to whether or not the retirement is true remains to be seen, but, if this is the end of the run of Conor McGregor, then it has been one HELL of a run.
