Conor McGregor To Finally Face Floyd Mayweather?

It looks like all the back and forth between the “Notorious” Conor McGregor and Floyd “Money” Mayweather may actually become a reality, according to a report from “The Irish Sun“.

According to the report, McGregor and Mayweather haven’t formally signed an agreement, due to a third party hold-up, but, an agreement has been reached between the 28-year old McGregor and the 39-year old Mayweather.

McGregor pulled out of a scheduled meet and greet in Dublin this week, in order to film an anti-bullying video for schoolchildren in the US. The video is part of a deal that was struck with the Nevada Athletic Commission following an incident where McGregor threw a water bottle at Nate Diaz.

“Ah no look I’m gonna f*** this whole sh*t up again. I love the Vegas commission. We’ve come to an understanding. I’m gonna fly out there and fix it. I’m gonna get my Las Vegas boxing commission and then we’ll see where the f*** Flyod’s at?!” – Conor McGregor

It is believed that he will use the visit to Las Vegas to finalize the details with his representatives, in hopes of getting the fight to happen.

During a live interview event in Manchester with TIS, McGregor revealed that he would fly out to Vegas to settle things with the Nevada Athletic Commission, saying:

“There’s a lot of business to do out in Las Vegas. They tried to fine me $150,000 for throwing a bottle of water. It was a can but whatever. We’ll call it a bottle of water and say no more about it…

Ah no look I’m gonna f*** this whole sh*t up again. I love the Vegas commission. We’ve come to an understanding. I’m gonna fly out there and fix it. I’m gonna get my Las Vegas boxing commission and then we’ll see where the f*** Flyod’s at?!”

Because of the trip, the undisputed UFC lightweight champion bailed out of a €100-a-head event that was scheduled for Friday night, citing that the reason was due to “an unavoidable schedule change”. The event was set to take place at The Red Cow Moran Hotel in Dublin. A spokesperson said in a statement released by the hotel:

“The Red Cow Moran Hotel in association with Industry Entertainment regret to announce that the evening event with Conor McGregor scheduled for Friday 17th February has been cancelled due to circumstances beyond their control.

An unavoidable schedule change will see Conor McGregor in Las Vegas at the time of the event.

All ticket holders who purchased tickets via TicketStop.ie will be automatically refunded, if you purchased a ticket or booked a table for the event through the Red Cow Moran Hotel please contact the team on 01 4593650 or via email redcowinn@moranhotels.com who will manage your refund directly.”

A source close to Notorious said to TIS:

“Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have agreed a deal to fight and have both settled on their respective fees.

The contract hasn’t officially been signed yet because of a third party hold-up but all the details have all been agreed on.

The fight could even be announced within two weeks.”

McGregor made no secret that he wished to deliver Mayweather’s first loss, which is a pretty huge task, considering Mayweather’s record stands at 49-0-0, with 26 of those wins coming by way of knockout.

McGregor has also been training to improve his boxing game, showing the world little tidbits of his training through his Twitter and Instagram, as he works towards what is now believed to be his next big challenge.

Also, he hasn’t been quiet about his anticipation in the fight, boasting:

“That fight is more than just being explored. That fight has been in the works a while now.

Look, there’s a lot of steps to get through to get the fight going, but it’s the fight to make.

It’s the fight the people want. It’s the fight I want. I know I’m confident going in there.

I’ve got the reach. I’ve got youth. I’ve got the confidence. I’ve got the unpredictable style. You can’t prepare for a style like me. A guy said to me, why conquer one world when you can conquer two? So I’m going to go conquer two worlds.”

For now, the fight is still up in the air, however, we will keep you posted of any and all updates regarding this dream fight.
