Dion Jordan will apply for reinstatement to the NFL on Wednesday, he told USA Today. Since being drafted third overall in the 2013 NFL Draft, Jordan has been a major disappointment for the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins traded up 12th position in the draft to select the Oregon pass rusher.

Jordan was suspended for the entire 2015 season after it was discovered that he produced a diluted sample for testing. His first suspension came in 2014, and was increased from four to six games, after a second offense was discovered.

While speaking to USA Today, Jordan said:

“I just turned 26 years old, so life starts to hit you in the face. Who are you outside of those shoulder pads and helmet? And it’s weird, but I feel like it’s a blessing for me at this point in time to think about it, instead of waiting ‘til they really tell me I can’t play football no more.”

Hopefully, he will be able to get back on the field and become the player the Dolphins thought he would be when they selected him.

An athletic freak, Jordan stands at a massive 6’6”, 250 lbs. His speed is eye-popping and his ability to bend and turn the corner made him one of the top pass rushing prospects of the last few drafts.

Jordan has all of the tools to succeed, but he has to be able to be around the team to receive the adequate coaching to develop into a quality player.

Hopefully this will be the last we’ve heard of Dion Jordan, in terms of disciplinary actions.

One would consider him a bust after he was highly touted coming out of University of Oregon.  He was seen as a freak of nature that is stout at the point of attack and is as a complete of a pass rusher as you’ll ever find.

We all hope that this is the start of many good things to come for Dion.
