Well, it finally happened. The Philadelphia Eagles and Defensive Beast Fletcher Cox agreed to a 6 year extension. The deal is worth $103 million and has $63 million guaranteed. Man-Dog is now locked in until 2022. It was officially announced by the team just moments ago.

The news came as no surprise, as we heard rumors all off season long that both sides were close to agreeing to a new deal. It was only a matter of time.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson claimed that he expected a deal to be done before training camp begins on July (and he was correct!).

The new deal is now the highest ever given to a non-quarterback . Ian Rapoport said that there is also a signing bonus of $26 million .

Fletcher was voted to his first Pro Bowl in 2015 and was named to the 2nd team All-Pro team. He should have been selected on the 1st team but he has plenty left to prove.

Fletch is one of the league’s premier players and he’s just reaching his prime.  Cox is only 25 years old, folks.

He has amassed 162 tackles,  22 sacks, 9 passes defended, 5 forced fumbles, 6 fumble recoveries, and 1 touchdown since being selected 12th overall in the 2012 NFL Draft.

I personally attended the Eagles Draft party that year and I am still celebrating the pick!

What’s even scarier is the fact that new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz brings in his attacking 4-3 defense, which will only allow Man-Dog to reign supreme and feast on backfields for years to come.

Kudos to Howie Roseman and staff for keeping the cornerstone piece in house.
