Ex-FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke Challenges 10-Year Ban

Lausanne, Switzerland – Former FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke appeals his 10-year ban from soccer to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Valcke is appealing against the decision issued by FIFA’s Appeal Committee dated June 24, 2016, following a corruption investigation.

FIFA’s ethics committee found Valcke guilty of misconduct over the sale of World Cup tickets, abuse of travel expenses, attempting to sell TV rights below their market value and destroying evidence.

Valcke has always maintained he has done “absolutely nothing wrong”.

Originally, he received a 12 years banned from Soccer by FIFA and a fined of 100,000 Swiss francs ($99,500).

Additionally, Valcke played a major role in the latter years of Sepp Blatter’s tenure as FIFA president.

From here on, the Frenchman will have to wait to hear from CAS for several weeks.
