I.C.Y.M.I – San Diego Chargers Kickoff USA Football Protection Tour

The San Diego Chargers have partnered with USA Football Protection Tour. On June 18th, the Chargers will host youth ages 7-14 for the camp.

The objective of the USA Football Protection Tour is to to teach parents, coaches and players, proper tackling fundamentals.

The program also aims to increase concussion awareness, as well as emphasis on equipment fitting. USA Football is a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee.

It’s an independent non-profit organization. The organization also train’s the most high school and youth football coaches in the United States.

Chargers wide receiver Stevie Johnson and linebacker Joshua Perry will be available to the media. They’ll also sign autographs for fans. Five other teams will also participate in the tour.

The Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers will also take part.

USA Football partners with the nation’s top leaders in medicine, child advocacy and athletics to encourage positive experiences for youth and high school football players.

USA Football has adopted the Heads Up program, which is a comprehensive program developed to advance player safety in the game today.

The Heads Up components consist of concussion recognition and response, heat prepardness and hydration, sudden cardiac arrest, proper equipment fitting, and Heads Up tackling and blocking.
