Jordi Alba Doubtful For Match Against Real Madrid

La Liga

Barcelona, Spain – With El Clasico only a few days away, reports from Spain indicate that Jordi Alba suffered an ankle sprain in the international friendly match between Romania and Spain, which may keep him off the pitch for the crucial match.

Alba will be submitted to further testings in Barcelona to determined the severity of the injury on Monday.

Alba played all 90 minutes of the 0-0 draw in Cluj and only manifested discomfort after the game was over.

Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets were also sent home by their national team last week after medical tests determined both had minor injuries that could put in jeopardy their participation in El Clasico.

If Alba were to miss the match, manager Luis Enrique will have to rethink his defensive scheme and perhaps insert Jeremy Mathieu in that left back position, once again.
