Manchester, England – Jose Mourinho has been told the Manchester United job is his this summer should the club owners decide to sack Louis van Gaal, Sky Sports reports.

Ahead of the Red Devils final Premier League game of the season against Bournemouth on Tuesday, Sky Sports is reporting that Mourinho has been assured of the job at Old Trafford should Dutchman leave this summer.

The wording of the statement makes it look like the Red Devils have yet to decide the Dutchman’s fate as his second season in charge draws to a close.

On May 13, the “Special One”, confirmed to the same media outlet that he has no agreement in place yet with any club, insisting he is currently focused on “enjoying his life”.

Mourinho has been seen having dinner in central London with his agent Jorge Mendes, who has assure the Portuguese tactician that he will be back at a top club in July.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss is also being tied to the Paris Saint-Germain job, despite the French club extending the contract of Laurent Blanc back in February, keeping him with the club until June 2018.

Van Gaal, 64, has repeatedly repeated his stance that he will remain in charge at Old Trafford next season even though qualification to the UEFA Champions League is all but over. United must beat Bournemouth at least 19-0 to leapfrog Manchester City into fourth place. That isn’t going to happen.

Additionally, Spanish media reports that goalkeeper David De Gea has told the Red Devils front office about making a decision between he or the van Gaal. A move to Real Madrid is still being rumored.

With United out of the UEFA Champions League for next season, Mourinho will likely take another job. But unless an Italian team fires anyone from now until July, no top profile club will be available for Mou.

Perhaps, if Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane loses the Champions League final and club president Florentino Perez decides to discontinue the relationship, then Mou would be back in La Liga at the helm of Real Madrid, once again.

But that is all hypothetical as no one has yet to confirm and there lots of “if’s” involved.
