Robert Kraft, one of the well-known owners in the NFL was quiet, but optimistic during the annual Myra Kraft MVP Awards luncheon at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday, June 2nd.

At the luncheon, inevitable questions about the future season and impending suspension of quarterback, Tom Brady arose, Kraft did an excellent job of deflecting these issues and directing the topic of discussion more towards what is known, the atmosphere of the locker room.

Staying with the theme of positivity, Kraft said,

“We’re excited football is back, seeing those guys workout. We’re going to try to keep all our discussions today on a high note.”

It is a good sign for Patriot fans that Kraft has taken a liking to the new additions, and returns to this team. He was impressed with what has been displayed during Patriot OTAs.

“I like the players we have had come in” he added, “There’s a great spirit in the locker room.” This great spirit is quite important for next season, seeing as there is a real possibility that Brady, leader of not only the Patriots offense but rather the whole team could be sidelined.

When questioned on how the team will fair without Brady, Kraft remained optimistic, saying “things working out means we make it to the playoffs, and take the next step from there” Regarding the Superbowl. Last year, a battered Patriots team still came close, losing to Denver 20-18.

Another note that Kraft commonly made was about the depth that this new Patriots roster includes, something that was an issue last season is now something that could propel the Pats, with or without Tom Brady. Kraft said,

“I think we have great depth, and I’m very excited about the upcoming season.”

With new acquisitions and help on offense, the Patriots are like always, a contender for the Super Bowl next year.

So Patriots fans, It looks like even if Tom Brady misses the first four games of the season, Robert Kraft has faith in this team, so you should too.
