Forward Re-Aggravated Achilles Injury, Considered Day-to-day

NHL

ST. PAUL, MN-The Dallas Stars head into tonight’s Game 3 versus the Minnesota Wild with a 2-0 series lead after taking Games 1 & 2 by a combined score of 6-1. However, if they wish to go up 3-0 in the series, they will have to do without one of their top offensive weapons.

Forward Tyler Seguin has been ruled out of tonight’s game after it appears he re-aggravated an Achilles injury in Game 2.

Seguin, who missed Game 1 of the series, returned to the Stars’ lineup in Game 2 Saturday night after missing the last 11 games  with an Achilles injury he sustained back on March 17.  He played 15:40, had one shot on goal and four hits in the game.

While speaking to the media earlier today, though, Dallas coach Lindy Ruff stated that Seguin “irritated something that rendered him not effective,” explaining why he stayed back in Dallas.

Ruff said his 24-year-old center is listed as day-to-day.

This won’t be the first time Seguin misses a game in the series. As mentioned previously, he missed Game 1 and the Stars didn’t seem to miss him much as they rolled the Wild 4-0.

Seguin’s absence may not be felt that much in this first round series, since Dallas has enough right now to take care of a Minnesota team that is missing it’s top offensive threat. However, if the Stars want to go far in the playoffs, a healthy Seguin will definitely help.

Since joining Dallas via trade during the summer of 2013, the Brampton, Ontario native has teamed up with winger Jamie Benn to form one of the most dynamic duos in the NHL. He also taken his game to a new level.

Seguin has netted 107 goals since the 2013-14 season, which make up almost 66% of his career goal total (163).
