White Sox Players Nicky Delmonico and Tyler Saladino Injured In Collision

Some more disappointing news comes in for White Sox fans, as Nicky Delmonico and Tyler Saladino were both injured after a collision on Sunday. In the 7th inning, Tyler Saladino was chasing a flyball as Delmonico was charging in for it.

As the two collided Delmonico partially separated his left shoulder. White Sox manager Ricky Renteria commented on Delmonico’s injury.

“Just extended it,” he said. “Didn’t pop it. Didn’t do anything. Just got extended and jammed it a little bit.”

Delmonico’s injury doesn’t appear to be that serious and he should be back in action soon. However, Tyler Saladino was placed on 7-day concussion protocol. Due to the collision, the medical team decided that he was a bit fuzzy and needed to be removed from the game.

Both Nicky Delmonico and Tyler Saladino should be out, but not for to long, which is good news for fans.

Notable Performances

After the full concussion protocol process we should get a better idea of how long it will be until Tyler gets back in action. However, the White Sox would go on to win the game 6-5 behind a strong start by Reynaldo Lopez.

Getting the win against Arizona, Lopez continues his strong spring training. In his last 3 starts, he’s had an ERA of 0.96. Although he needs to continue to work on racking up strikeouts.

In addition to Lopez’s performance, other notable performances in the game were, Eloy Jimenez who went 2-2 for with a walk and a homer. Matt Davidson who finished the game 2-4 and Jose Abreu who went 1-4 with 2 RBIs.

The Injury Bug

These injuries add to the White Sox unfortunate injury list. Outfield prospect Micker Adolfo sprained the UCL in his elbow early in the spring. Moreover, top prospect Luis Robert sprained his thumb sliding. Alec Hansen was sat down after experiencing forearm tightness. Most notably third baseman Jake Burger, who tore his Achilles.

Furthermore, this also adds to the injuries already accumulated prior to the spring. In addition, that list includes the likes of Zack Burdi and Carlos Rodon.

Meanwhile, the White Sox will face off against the Seattle Mariners at 9:40 ET. Pitching prospect Dylan Cease is expected to take the mound.
