Athletics Vs Red Sox Series Preview

The Oakland Athletics come to town this week for a three-game series at Fenway Park so here is your Red Sox series preview. The Red Sox are 5-5 in their last 10 games and plan to turn things around and keep their lead in the division. Eduardo Rodriguez will get the start tonight for the Sox. On the other side, Sean Manaea will get the start looking to push Oakland’s win streak to six games. A very important series for Boston to win only being 3.0 games up on the Yankees. While the Yankees are on a three game winning streak looking to threaten to take over the division lead.

The next game in the series for the Red Sox, Doug Fister get the start for the Red Sox. He looks to continue his stretch of good starts. Going against one of Oakland’s rookie starters, Jharel Cotton who was a 5.82 ERA and not looking any better in each start. The pitching matchup should give Boston the slight advantage. Although it is baseball and anything can happen. Fister’s ERA of 3.91 and his stellar outing last time, look to propel the Red Sox to a win.

In the series finale, the Red Sox send Drew Pomeranz to the mound to wrap up the series before heading to Tampa Bay for a weekend series. Pomeranz is having a good year following his performance in 2016. With an ERA of 3.35 going 15-5 with a 1.35 WHIP. On the other side, Daniel Gossett gets to go up against the Red Sox offense. No better than Cotton, Gossett has a 5.02 ERA with an unsatisfying 1.53 WHIP. Although it is his first season being in the Majors. So, there could be room for improvement in his future.

It should be an interesting series for the two teams. One is on a five game win streak, and the other is trying to hold onto a small division lead. So, let’s hope the Red Sox can pull out a series win, or even better a sweep of the Oakland Athletics.
