Mookie Betts, Day to Day With Thumb Injury

In yesterday’s 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts thumb injury in the fifth inning doesn’t seem to be very serious. This loss couldn’t have come at a worse time, especially with the Red Sox who are only 3.0 games up on the Yankees. While also there only being 12 games left in the regular season will really test the Red Sox depth at outfield. Rajai Davis will more than likely get the starting job in the meantime while Betts is sidelined with a thumb injury.

Having Betts out of the lineup will come as a blow to the Red Sox offense. Seeing that right before he went down with the injury. Betts was tearing it up at the plate, batting .306 with 12 runs batted in, in his past 11 games. So, having him injured is going to be a major blow to the team. Thankfully he will be in the lineup tonight, but the Red Sox can’t be reckless with him. Hopefully, John Farrell will be very cautious with Betts tonight. Any sign of any discomfort I would say take him just to be sure the injury doesn’t escalate.

Mookie Betts

After Mondays start, Mookie Betts will have played his 500th game in the MLB in just his third full year. Having a bit of a down year compared to his near MVP win last season. Mookie Betts has somehow still managed to be the most productive player on the Red Sox offense. With 22 home runs, 90 runs batted in 93 runs and has stolen a productive 24 stolen bases. It just seems like he is the type of guy who can do almost anything on the field. So, let’s hope he can stay on the field and healthy.
