He joins the ranks of Fred Lynn and Dwight Evans. Also becoming the 4th Red Sox to win consecutive Gold Glove awards at 25 years of age, joining such men as; George Scott, Dustin Pedroia, and Frank Malzone. That’s good company to be in.

Playing a total of 1,389.1 innings this season, Mookie Betts played more innings than any other right fielder for the second year in a row. Posting a .987 FPCT with 8 assists and one double play with only 5 errors in 379 chances. He’s really making a name for himself as a top OF in the MLB. FanGraphs actually ranked him first among players at all positions in UZR(Ultimate Zone Rating) with 20.5. While his 31 defensive runs saved led all major league outfielders, and ranking 2nd among all players behind just Andrelton Simmons. What I think the most important stat for Betts this season, happened in his final 99 regular season starts, Betts committed just 1 error in 247 chances. Ending in an FPCT of .996. Ending the season with a 51 game scoreless streak.

So, with all that being said, Mookie Betts has truly made a case for himself as not only the best right fielder but one of the best outfielders in the league.
