Red Sox and Astros Set In ALDS Matchup

The stage is set! and the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros are set in the ALDS matchup set to start on Thursday. Going up against the best team in the A.L. the Red Sox won’t have an easy series, but It should be a very entertaining series for both fan bases. The Red Sox have already pinned their game one starter, and of course who else but Chris Sale. A very strong candidate for A.L. Cy Young award winner, although he may have to face off against Dallas Kuechel in the first game of this ALDS matchup.

Which team has the better chance of winning?

All around these are two very talented teams, they both have a solid offense with a rotation that can get the job done. I think it’s clear the Astros offense is the better of the two teams. Seeing that they lead the league in; AVG, RBIs, R, OBP, SLG, OPS, H, and 2B. So, it’s obvious they were the most dominant offensive team in the MLB. If the Red Sox are going to want to compete and stay in games. They will have to make each game a high-scoring game to keep up with the Houston offense. The Houston pitching staff isn’t nearly as dominant as the offense, so that is where the Red Sox will have to expose them at.

Although the Red Sox don’t have the dominance that the Astros do. They are a patient group that knows how to go one base at a time. Sale and Pomeranz give the Sox a good advantage when it comes to stifling the Astros lineup. Keys for the Red Sox on the series for the offense should be ambush early and don’t let the starter settle in. On the mound, keep the lineup guessing and induce weak contact. Chris Sale I believe has the best shot at doing that out of everyone else in the rotation. Although Chris Sale doesn’t have any playoff experience under his belt, I don’t think it should be of any concern to hopefull Sox fans.
