Red Sox Take The Series Against The Blue Jays

The Boston Red Sox take the series against the Blue Jays, taking 2 of 3 games. The Sox were blown out in one game and blew out the Jays in another. At this time in the season, every series win/loss could mean the difference between winning the division and coming in second or third. Now the series win may not say a lot for the Red Sox. Seeing that they did play the Blue Jays who are dead last in the division, after making the ALCS two years in a row.

Starting off the series for the Red Sox, Rick Porcello who had looked a lot better recently. Didn’t have his best start, constantly having trouble finding the zone and finishing off batters. Porcello’s night was ended earlier only going 5 1/3 innings giving up 7 runs and 10 hits. While also capturing his MLB leading 16th loss on the season. Eduardo Rodriguez got the nod for the next game. He only ended up allowing 2 runs. He pitched nowhere near the full amount of the game. Seeing that the Red Sox and Jays went an MLB best 19 innings. The Red Sox bullpen took on the challenge of keeping the Jays off the board and did an amazing job seeing that the Sox won the game.

In the rubber match, Doug Fister got the go ahead to start the game. No one really expected much from him, but he ended up doing the complete opposite. Fister went 7 innings only giving up a single run and allowing just 4 hits on 9 strikeouts. The Sox may not have won if it wasn’t for Fister’s incredible performance on the mound.

Scoring 13 runs in the three game span, the Red Sox dominated the Blue Jays around almost every corner. Plating 4 runs in the first game, 3 in the second and 6 in the finale. The bats have seemed to look a little more consistent as of lately. Besides dropping the first game 4-10, the Sox are certainly looking like they are hitting their peak on the season. It couldn’t come at any better time seeing that the playoffs are just around the corner. Let’s hope the Sox can keep up the winning, and keep growing the lead in the division.
