Red Sox Vs Indians Series Opener

What seemed like a back and forth of a let’s see who can hit the most home runs contest. In the end, the Red Sox fell short by just a run. In what could be a preview of a future playoff series. We all know how bad the Red Sox want to beat the Indians. Especially after what happened in the ALDS last season. So, this series will foreshadow what we could possibly see in a playoff series.

Game 1 Recap

The Sox were able to strike early on an Andrew Benintendi two run laser shot to right field. Scoring both him and Mookie Betts. However, the Indians countered with a Roberto Perez three run home run to right field. Giving the Indians the 3-2 advantage. Neither of the Starting Pitchers made it to the sixth inning. Clevinger went 4.1 IP giving up 4 H, 4 ER, 4 BB and 4 SO. The two long balls probably didn’t help his cause by any means. Rodriguez fared better, going 5.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB and 5 SO.

In the 5th inning still trailing by a run, Hanley Ramirez smashed a two run shot to left field, making the score 4-3. The bullpen held the Indians to no runs until the eighth inning, when Encarnacion singled to left field scoring Lindor and tying the game up at four a piece. The game came down to the bottom of the ninth with Roberto Perez at the plate. Then on an errant throw to third by Brock Holt, Brandon Guyer was able to score giving the Indians the 5-4 win over the Red Sox.

The Red Sox won’t have any easier of a match up tomorrow, for they have to go against Carlos Carrasco. So, let’s hope they can even up the series and keep their 4.5 game lead over the Yankees in the division.
