The Commissioner’s Trophy Finally Makes Landfall In Houston

What a year it has been for the city of Houston after a devastating hurricane laid waste to the land. The Houston Astros made it their goal to bring the commissioner’s trophy home with them. And that is exactly what they did. The date November 1st, 2017 will be ingrained into the city and all fans that witnessed that beautiful moment. Just like the Cubs, many have waited their whole life to see a championship, and unfortunately, some were not able to witness that amazing spectacle. So, here is to all the fans who stuck through the worse of times and the best, you earned it.

Pitching recap

Lance McCullers Jr.- Another game where neither pitcher made it to 5 innings. Lance McCullers had a awkward night on the mound. Hitting 4 batters, yet only giving up 3 hits on 0 runs. His pitch count wasn’t bad. He probably could have gone an extra 2-3 innings, but A.J Hinch had a lot of faith in his bullpen. And they came through only allowing a single run.

Final Line- 2.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB and 3 SO

Yu Darvish- The Dodgers had very high hopes on Darvish coming over from Texas, and he did do very well for the Dodgers in the regular season. Yet in the postseason he looked like a completely different person, that shouldn’t have pitched in a game 7. Compiling an ERA of 6.14 is something that will hinder his career moving forward.

Final Line- 1.2 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 BB and 0 SO

Scoring Summary

What started off as a first inning lead off double by George Springer, turned into a run on a throwing error by Cody Bellinger (who had his fair share of problems this WS striking out 16 times). While also advancing Bregman to 2nd base, who then stole 3rd base with Altuve at the plate. On the next pitch Altuve grounded out to Bellinger scoring Bregman. Making the score 2-0 after the first inning. A lead off walk to Brian McCann, followed up with a double by Marwin Gonzalez advancing McCann to 3rd. Then Lance McCullers helping his own cause grounded out, but ended up scoring Brian McCann. Making the score 3-0. George Springer hit his 5th HR of the post-season. Springer’s 5th dinger ties for the most all time in MLB postseason history. Making the score 5-0 in just the second inning, and holding that score.

The Astros Effectively won the series, bringing the commissioner’s trophy home for the first time in Astros history. It surly is a great time to be a baseball fan with all the droughts ending. The Cubs after 108 years and now the Astros after 52 years. So, with all this being said enjoy this while you can, because before your know it. The season will be underway and their will be a new champion crowned. Or could Houston make it right back to the World Series again?
