Where Is Nate Jones?

Where Is Nate Jones?

The White Sox have been without their hard throwing right hander, Nate Jones, for quite a while now. Jones was placed on the 10 day-disabled list on May 4th for elbow neuritis. This was expected to be a minor injury, but things have taken much longer than expected.

Jones started his rehab assignment with a simulated game on May 22nd. He then followed up with a bullpen session on May 29th. However, Jones has not progressed any further. Jones has not thrown from the mound since the 29th of May so what is the setback?

When Will Nate Jones Be Back?

According to White Sox manager Rick Renteria there isn’t a setback and that they are simply treating it with a lot of patience. This has left the fans with no timetable for his return.

Jones is a key setup man in the White Sox bullpen, who is occasionally called upon to go for the save. He is known for his crafty slider and electric fastball. Before Jones went on the disabled list the Sox were 15-12. Once Jones hit the DL, they went on a 6 game losing streak.

This is not to say if the Sox get Jones back all will be well again. Most of the White Sox struggles have revolved around the starting pitching. Even though Jones is injured the Sox bullpen has still preformed pretty well. With the Sox currently in a rebuild stage, if the Sox are looking to trade him to a playoff contending team for a prospect or two then they would obviously like Jones out on the mound sooner than later.

So when will Nate Jones get back on the mound? Only the White Sox can tell us that, but we are unsure how serious the injury truly is. His rehab assignment has been halted so hopefully it is not too serious.
