Brad Keselowski Media Teleconference

Driver of the Team Penske number 2 Miller Lite Ford, Brad Keselowski addressed several questions from the media in a teleconference on Tuesday. These questions varied in topics from his upbringing by Dale Jr, to his current contract situation.

This weekend’s Monster Energy Cup Series event is at the Michigan International Speedway, Brad’s home track. Although Brad has yet to win at Michigan, he stated that “Earlier in my career, racing there [at Michigan] used to feel like a ton of pressure, but as of late I don’t seem to feel quite as pressured by it. Now I just look at it and think of how amazing it is to run well there. I don’t get stressed over not running well there. It [racing at one’s home track] affects people in different ways and in my case it has affected me differently as I’ve grown older.”

Another topic of discussion was young drivers, in the wake of Ryan Blaney’s Pocono win. Keselowski said “It was enjoyable seeing him [Blaney] in Victory Lane. I didn’t know how to feel. It’s one of those moments in life you can’t prepare for, but when it happens it’s pretty dang awesome. It was an awesome moment for me to see him win and to see one of his dreams come true.”

Keselowski, at 33 years old, won the 2012 NASCAR Cup Series championship with Team Penske. He is currently in the final year of his driving contract at this team. His remarks to this were “I hope to have an answer to my contract for next year very very soon. I can say I’ve gone a long ways in my life and career with the help of Roger and all of Team Penske and I hope to continue to do so.”

So far in the 2017 season, Keselowski has amassed 2 Cup Series wins at Atlanta and Martinsville. He also won last weekend’s Xfinity Series race at Pocono. Keselowski is currently locked into the Playoffs, and has 12 bonus points to his credit.
