Dale Jr. Will Battle At Bristol One Last Time



Dale Earnhardt, Jr. will make his 35th, and final, start in Saturday nights Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race. With only three races to go in the regular season, the 88 team sits 22nd in points, putting them in a must win situation. Though things aren’t looking good for the teams’ playoff hopes, some say Bristol is where their season could turn around.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s success at “The Last Great Coliseum”

Dale Earnhardt Jr., has had a lot of success at Bristol.  In fact, nearly half of his starts have resulted in a top ten. His most recent success came in the 2016 Food City 500, where Dale Earnhardt Jr. came from three laps down to finish second. 2004 marked another good year for Dale Earnhardt, Jr. after pulling off the first ever weekend sweep in the track’s history. Overall, Earnhardt has an average starting position of 20.9, and an average finishing position of 13.3.

About Bristol

Bristol Motor Speedway is a very unique, and challenging race track. Measured at about 0.533 of a mile, and with around 25 degrees of banking, this track truly puts the driver to the test. Famous nicknames for this track include, “The Last Great Coliseum”, and “Thunder Valley.” Also, unlike most other tracks, this race track is made out of concrete giving it a different feel. Drivers that have won at this prestigious track say it’s like no other.

One Last Time

Saturday night Dale Earnhardt, Jr. will take the checkered flag at Bristol one final time. All though, he does have two more opportunities for another win at the Last Great Coliseum. Earnhardt will first compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Jr Motorsports. Winning Friday could give the team much needed momentum headed into Saturday’s race. Earnhardt has made it clear that as he heads into his final races he will not stop working hard to win. Maybe this will be the race that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. parks in victory lane one last time.
