The amount of free agents heading into the 2018 NASCAR Cup season has been climbing. On top of that, there are many big name drivers among the list. One of those is Danica Patrick.

Patrick first joined the Cup Series full time in 2013  Immediately Patrick found success after winning the pole for the Daytona 500. She would become the first female driver to do so in history. She would also become the first female driver to lead laps in The Great American Race.

In early September, Patrick announced she would be departing from Stewart Haas Racing after 2017. This announcement came a few hours after SHR put out a statement regarding a new sponsor for 2018. Patrick has since not shared any news about a new ride.

Recently talk has stirred about the Illinois driver possibly joining Roush Fenway Racing. When asked, Danica neither confirmed or denied.

“Ha, ha, you never know, I mean, you know, I think that, I think that what’s most important is that you find a spot where you’ve got, you know, you’ve got that potential and you’ve got a group that has passion,” Patrick replied, when asked by Kickin’ the Tires. Patrick was also asked about her ongoing negotiations with other teams. She then mentioned having a few options that her and her agent’s were discussing.

With all these recent signs, another piece of information came about Monday night. Mike Kelley, former crew chief, and current downforce program manager for Roush Fenway Racing released an interesting tweet. The tweet stated he had some cool news, and that he was excited for the future of Roush Fenway Racing. In a tweet released later that night, he addressed the announcement should be expected in a week or so.

With RFR still holding on to their third charter, Danica Patrick may be the driver along side boyfriend, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., and Trevor Bayne in 2018.
