Danica Patrick will race the #7 Premium Motorsports Chevrolet in the 2018 Daytona 500. The announcement comes just days after long time sponsor, GoDaddy, agreed to come on board. The sponsor will also represent Danica’s final Indy 500 in May as part of her “Danica Double.” The team has also confirmed that Tony Eury Jr., Danica’s previous crew chief in the Xfinity Series, will be calling the shots on the pit box.

To be the final race in NASCAR for Patrick, things couldn’t be any better. She made her stock car debut in the #7 GoDaddy Chevrolet in 2010 with Eury Jr., which is how she’ll go out.

“I couldn’t have written a better story about how this would all fall into place,” Patrick told the Associated Press. “Going with the flow is working out beautifully. It all makes my last NASCAR race just that much sweeter.”

Tony Eury Jr., seemed just as excited about the reunion.

“It wouldn’t be just any opportunity that could coax me back to the pit box. Working with Danica and GoDaddy again at Daytona is going to be fun – when you can do what you love and be in your element … well, I can tell you, it doesn’t get any better. Danica and I have shared success before in Daytona, and she has a lot more experience under her belt now, so I look forward to seeing what we can achieve during Speedweeks.”

In the six times Patrick has run the 500, she’s had a best finish of eighth, twice. All of those attempts came with previous team, Stewart Haas Racing, whom Patrick parted ways with following the 2017 season. With them she was also able to claim a Daytona 500 pole in 2013, making her the first female driver in NASCAR to do so. In that race she also become the first female to lead a lap during green.

Can Danica finally capture the checkered flag in her final race? There’s no better place.
