Richmond is must win for Clint Bowyer

Going into the final week of NASCAR’s regular season, Clint Bowyer finds himself in a less than ideal spot. After last weekends race at Darlington, Bowyer now finds himself in a must win situation at Richmond Raceway. At Darlington, the driver of the number 14 Ford had an engine failure early in the race. This, unfortunately, has led to him being unable to make the playoffs by points. So it’s looking to be a high-stress Saturday night for the 14 team.

However, the final race of the regular season could possibly not come at a better track for Bowyer. Throughout his career, Richmond has been one of his best tracks. In 23 career starts, Bowyer has notched two wins, four top fives, and twelve top tens. Along with an average finish in the top 15 at 12.9. So while they are undoubtedly in a bad spot heading into the weekend, Clint has the ability to get it done this weekend at Richmond. He knows it and his team knows it.

Now if Clint does come up short Saturday night, the 2017 season is still a success for him. In 2016 Clint was a back marker for much of the season. Bowyer posted just three top tens and failed to post a finish in the top 5 all last year. Already through 25 races on 2017, Clint has posted five top fives and ten top tens.

So while Saturday is certainly must win for Bowyer to keep his Championship hopes alive, 2017 has been nothing short of a rebound season for the driver from Emporia, Kansas.
