America’s fastest couple is no more. After a relationship that lasted 5 years, Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr have broken up, according to multiple reports. This break up news comes as Patrick, 35, has ended her full-time NASCAR career. Her likely final career NASCAR start will be in the 2018 Daytona 500 in February.

Stenhouse and Patrick have a long history together in racing. They have been on-track together since the 2010 Nationwide Series season. As rookies in that series, they attended several rookie orientations together that led to a friendship. Patrick mutually divorced her then-husband, Paul Hospenthal, in 2012.

Patrick and Stenhouse were both Cup Series rookies for the 2013 season, as well as debuted their romantic partnership then. That season, Stenhouse beat Patrick for Rookie-of-the-Year honors, finishing 19th in points.

Speeding ahead to 2017, Ricky Stenhouse Jr won his first 2 Monster Energy Cup Series races at Talladega and Daytona. Patrick was a presence in victory lane for both of her boyfriend’s wins. Stenhouse was eliminated from Playoff contention after the Round of 12. Patrick was absent from the Champion’s Banquet in Las Vegas last month. This drew some speculation in terms of their relationship status. It is now known that they have in fact undergone a break up.

Danica Patrick’s life has undergone many radical changes over the past several months. Stewart-Haas Racing announced they would not renew her contract in September. The past year has also seen her launch a vineyard, a documentary, and a book. Now, she has lost her romantic partner as well.

Aside from racing, Danica Patrick has more than enough business ventures and obligations to fill her time. While her presence at NASCAR races next year may be significantly lower, expect her to remain at the forefront of fitness and health with her lifestyle and regiments.
