BREAKING NEWS (3 hours ago) – Cody Ware, MENCS driver, posted to his Facebook page after news broke of his back injury that he does not know when he will return to his # 51 Rick Ware Racing Chevrolet.

In part his statement read:

“At Dover two weeks ago I left the race early due to serious back issues. It wasnt typical pain and I was concerned with how it was affecting my driving.

We decided to try to fix my seat at Pocono and continue on. Unfortunately problems persisted…

…got an MRI done and the results show compression and discs issues in my lower back.

…have been in contact with both the neurosurgeons and NASCAR and we have come to the decision to sit out until I can heal.”

This past Sunday at Pocono Ware pulled into the garage just 35 laps into the race with a vibration. The previous week in Dover he completed 283 of 406 laps.

Ware said that he won’t be back in a car until he has healed and has a proper seat.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Ware is listed as TBA for Michigan International Speedway.

He got his Cup start at Atlanta Motor Speedway in March after he competed in 12 Xfinity and 5 CWTS races.

The 21 year old son of Rick Ware said that he has “lived for this since he started racing”.

Thirty-nine cars were on the preliminary entry list for AMS even though the team did not have a charter.
