The 20 year old son of NASCAR veteran Joe Nemechek will move up the NASCAR career ladder, sharing the duties of driving the #42 Xfinity Chevrolet with Monster Energy Cup Series driver Kyle Larson

An official announcement is expected on the move on Tuesday.

Nemechek tweeted this message out on December 8th, keeping the message pretty much “under wraps” so as not to give away too much.

John Hunter will be driving the same car number that his dad Joe found success with in his NASCAR career. Joe earned his first win in 1999 in the #42 and it was the last win for Team Sabco

Nemechek has won five races in the Camping World Truck Series over the past 3 seasons.

He has run the full schedule in the past 2 years and has advanced to the Playoffs each year.

In the Camping World Truck series, Nemechek has five wins, one pole, 22 top fives and 38 top 10’s

This was all in 76 career starts. Nemco still plans to look for sponsorship and another driver for the 2018 season.

Although Nemco is among the smaller teams in the series, they have still managed to win races the past three seasons and it’s driver has finished 8th in the standings each of the past 2 years.

Nemechek could also still do some races for Nemco Motorsports in 2018.
