Phoenix International Raceway will soon be known as ISM Raceway. The 1-mile raceway announced that their naming rights have been sold. ISM Connect signed a multiyear agreement for the track’s sponsorship. The new name goes into effect in 2018. This will be the hallmark of a massive facility renovation at Phoenix.

A constant in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series since 1988, Phoenix International Raceway has hosted 2 Cup races per year since 2005. Phoenix has also been an annual stop for the NASCAR Playoffs since 2004. It is currently the second-to-last race in the season.

Track Renovation

Announced in January, the track is in the midst of a $178 million facility re-imaging project. Much like the ‘Daytona Rising’ project that saw the re-imagination of the fan experience at Daytona International Speedway. Some new amenities at Phoenix include a new infield fanzone, new garage buildings, free wifi, and new suites. They will also add 45,000 grandstand seats. The start/finish line will also move. The new frontstretch will include the track’s dogleg. This full-facility renovation will be complete by November 2018.

ISM Connect, also known as Ingenuity Sun Media, is a digital advertising company that operates mobile apps and TV screens for several racetracks.  In addition to naming rights, ISM will provide fans more in-depth access at Phoenix. They will have a new pedestrian tunnel, digital display screens, a mobile app, and social media interactions. ISM Connect is also naming one of the interactive fan entrances, known as ‘canyons.’

Earlier this season, Ryan Newman won the Camping World 500 at Phoenix. The next race weekend for Phoenix will be November 10-12. It will feature Trucks, Xfinity, and the Cup Series.

Phoenix International Raceway is far from the first racetrack to have a title sponsor. From 1998-2009, Charlotte Motor Speedway was Lowe’s Motor Speedway. In addition, the racing complex at Indianapolis Raceway Park is Lucas Oil Raceway.
