For the third straight year, the Golden State Warriors will meet the Cleveland Cavaliers for a Christmas Day match-up. This match-up will take place at Oracle Arena home of the Golden State Warriors on 3:30 p.m.

Both of these teams are familiar with each other having played against each other in the last three NBA Championship series.

Christmas Day 2016

The Warriors traveled to Cleveland for a Kevin Durant and LeBron James match-up which lived up to expectations.
The Cavaliers ended up winning at Quicken Loans Arena with a score of 109-108. Having to rally late, the Cavaliers scored 14-points in the fourth quarter. The hero for the Cavaliers was Kyrie Irving who made a go-ahead jump shot with only 3.4 seconds left on the clock.

Although the Warriors lost, all-star Kevin Durant finished the game with 36-points and 15-rebounds. While James finished with 31-points leading his team to a Christmas Day victory.

Can the Warriors Win Without Curry

With Stephen Curry out for at least two weeks with a sprained right ankle. As a result, other Warriors are going to have to step up and try to fill the big hole in their lineup.

Curry is averaging 33 minutes a game which leaves significant time for many Warriors bench players to get their chance to shine.

Fortunately, they have the 2017 NBA Finals MVP Durant on their squad. After Curry’s injury, Durant has had more freedom to truly show fans what he is made off.

Since Curry’s injury, the Warriors have won both of their last two games. In those games, Durant has averaged 35.5 points, 10 rebounds, and 8.5 assists.

Durant told isports.web that with Curry out,

“Nothing’s different. Just more opportunity.”

In addition to Durrant, Warrior great Draymond Greene has even stepped up since Curry’s injury.

Greene also put up great numbers this road trip, averaging 1.3 blocks, 2.3 steals, and 6.1 rebounds.

The Warriors return to Oracle Arena Monday to face the Portland Trailblazer.

Christmas Day Match-up

Although the Warriors have been successful without Curry, the question becomes can they beat the Cavaliers without him.

Warriors and Cavaliers games always seem to be close.  Last season the Cavaliers beat the Warriors by only one point.

In addition, the Cavaliers who had a slow start to the season are just coming off a 13-game winning streak ended by the Indiana Pacers.

Will Durant and company be able to beat these Cavaliers without Curry? Or, will the Cavaliers exploit the big Steph Curry hole in the Warriors line up?

Since these two teams know each other very well perhaps the Cavaliers will know exactly how to beat these Warriors without their superstar this Christmas day.

All I know, is that this Christmas day match-up will be one you will not want to miss.
