Cleveland Cavaliers: Win or Go Home

Win or lose tonight the Cleveland Cavaliers need to get acquire more offense in the off season. Although the Cavaliers have the ability to score at a rapid rate, the team struggles with offensive consistency.

This series has been disappointing, to say the least. The 2016 NBA champions have found themselves in a 3-1 hole, facing elimination tonight. If the Cavaliers lose this series, do they blow up the big three and go in a new direction?

End of The Road?

Win or lose the Cav’s should consider parting ways with JR Smith, Iman Shumpert, and Richard Jefferson. Last year all three players contributed in spurts, helping the land acquire their first NBA championship.

However, Shumpert, Smith and Jefferson have struggled to contribute offensively. Together all three players scored a combined average of 14.6 points in this year’s post season. With the exception of Shumpert, Smith and Jefferson have committed some questionable fouls during this year’s finals.

Plenty of times during this series Jefferson and Smith committed costly fouls putting Golden State in the bonus. At times it seemed as if Smith and company lacked faith in their transition defense.

Notable Free Agency:

In crucial moments Smith struggled to execute the defensive scheme. Throughout the NBA season, Smith struggled to get back in sync after recovering from a broken thumb. Cleveland management needs to consider the following during the off season:

  • Speak with Paul George
  • Speak with JJ Redick
  • Look at signing Dion Waiters
  • Consider signing Tim Hardaway Jr.
  • Resign Kyle Korver
  • Trade Shumpert & Smith
  • Do not entertain acquiring Dwayne Wade

Finals 4 Years In A Row:

The Cavaliers need to get younger in the off season.  If you are Cav’s owner Dan Gilbert you need to keep the core of LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving together. Please keep in mind that this could be the finals again next year!

Long story short Shumpert, Smith and Jefferson have given their blood, sweat and tears, but it is time to move on.

Game 5 tonight at 9pm on ABC! #Checkitout
