Five Sixers Trade Proposals That Help Today And Tomorrow

Five Sixers Trade Proposals That Help Today And Tomorrow

The NBA Trade Deadline falls on February 8th at 3 pm and the Sixers are ready to deal. Sixers President Bryan Colangelo’s tight lipped nature leaves fans guessing when another asset will be traded. With help from ESPN’s NBA Trade Machine, here are five trades that I believe will help move The Process forward.

Scenario 1: Speights The Floor

Sixers Receive: Marreese Speights

Magic Receive: Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and 2018 2nd Round Pick

Former Sixers 1st rounder Marreese Speights’ abilities give the Sixers a major boost in late game stretches. With depth being a concern, Speights can be a 3 and D specialist off the bench. Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot is expendable due to his inconsistent motor and reduced minutes on the rotation. Nik Stauskas was in a similar spot before being shipped to the Brooklyn Nets. He seems to be taking advantage of his time there. I feel with more time, TLC can do the same on a more patient team. As for the pick, I put this here just in case the Orlando Magic consider saying no.

Scenario 2: Get Carter

Sixers Receive: Vince Carter

King Receive: Jerryd Bayless

It seems unlikely that Vince Carter is happy with the Sacramento Kings’ lack of success. Veteran leadership is still lacking on this Sixers team and that is Carter’s best asset at 38. Jerryd Bayless serves his purpose and has been above average as of late. However, his production per 36 minutes mirrors Carter’s this season. He is also on the books next year while Carter is a UFA after this season. The money makes more sense for the future.

Scenario 3: Bring The Payne

Sixers Receive: Cameron Payne

Bulls Receive: Amir Johnson, 2018 2nd Round Pick

Bulls PG Cameron Payne was included in most “Jahlil Okafor to Chicago” rumors. Sixers fans grit their teeth imagining acquiring more oft-injured players like Payne. His playoff experience would be valuable to this team right now (11 games). For Chicago, Amir Johnson can either help mold unity in the Bulls’ locker room or reach a buyout deal and join a contender. Both teams gain flexibility with this move.

Scenario 4: Faried At Last

Sixers Receive: Kenneth Faried

Nuggets Receive: Amir Johnson, 2 2018 2nd Round Picks

Nuggets big man Kenneth Faried’s name has been in trade rumors for a while now. His play has improved but his contract hurts Denver’s chance at signing superstar. Amir Johnson’s expiring contract gives them the much-needed flexibility in next year’s star studded free agent class. This would also help the team extend Nikola Jokic.

Scenario 5: It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

Sixers Receive: T.J. Warren

Suns Receive: Richaun Holmes, Jerryd Bayless, 2018 1st Round Pick

If you’ve watched Phoenix at all in the past four seasons, you know T.J. Warren can play. Having him play alongside the Sixers’ young core would be outstanding. The icing on the cake is his contract and age. This frees up minutes for Josh Jackson and creates more depth. Richaun Holmes is a fan favorite Philadelphia but he needs more minutes. Bayless aides in guard development after Eric Bledsoe’s exit. However, the sweetener of the deal is the draft pick. Phoenix’s front office is asset hungry in their current stage of the rebuilding process.

***These trades are only scenarios that I created due to perceived team needs.
