The T-Wolves Splurge During Free Agency!

Minnesota has had glimpses of greatness when speaking of other sports! This time around the Minnesota Timberwolves aka (T-Wolves) have had a huge free agency splash, which might be able to change that. The most popular moment has been the acquisition of all-star, Jimmy Butler. How will the Timberwolves look on paper?

Farewell To The Long Time Timberwolves PG, Ricky Rubio!

Ricky Rubio had an interesting career in Minnesota. He always found a way to get the team involved through premier ball handling and flashy passing. Rubio has managed to be top ten in assists every year. His constant struggle with scoring and shooting fueled management to place him on the trading block. Ricky Rubio has only shot 37% from the field. Injuries affected the guard’s growth and lead to a significant amount of games missed. On June 30th, 2017 the T-Wolves traded the 6-year player to the Utah Jazz in exchange for a 2018 first-round draft pick.

Welcome, Jimmy Buckets!

The young all-star Jimmy Butler was apart of trade rumors all last season and during the start of this year’s free agency. Rumors leaked from sources around the Chicago Bulls, saying he was up for grabs. On June 22nd, 2017 the Timberwolves traded away dunk champion, Zach Levine, the raw prospect Kris Dunn, and the 7th round draft pick of this year’s draft. Butler is one of the best two-way players in the league. He has guarded some of the best, all game long during playoff races including stars like LeBron James, Paul George, and DeMar DeRozan. The former Marquette player has improved his three-point shooting every season since his rookie year. The versatility the 27-year-old brings to the court is like very few. Scoring comes easy to him since he has averaged 20 plus points three times in his 6-year career.

Jeff Teague At Point!

The Minnesota T-Wolves signed Jeff Teague on July 10th, 2017. Teague brings athleticism and three point shooting. These two characteristics are what ownership has wanted from a point guard for a long time now. His defense is underrated. While guarding premier ball handlers, Teague’s energy never seems to diminish.

Jamal Crawford accepted a multi year deal with Minnesota. Crawford admitted that he wanted to be part of a developing project with a young core. The premier ball handler himself has had success with low minutes. He is an all around star. Crawford is known for helping the second unit which helped him win 6 Man Of The Year three times.

How will it all Sync in?

Coach Tom Thibadeau has always been big on defense. The first thing the Wolves have to do is learn how to play team defense. The offense will come from all over the place if the team plays pass first basketball. The Timberwolves have a core of selfless players. They can dominate the paint with Karl Anthony Towns, shoot the ball with Crawford, and rest well knowing Crawford can handle the load. Additionally, the versatility of Andrew Wiggins and Butler can help guard the best wing players around the association. On paper, Minnesota is the team to watch out for!
