It Was Only A Matter Of Time With Green-Beckham

The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Friday that they waived wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham. Quarterback Dane Evans signed a three-year deal with the Eagles and will take Green-Beckham’s roster spot. This move signals that other receivers have proven to the coaching staff that they’re more deserving of playing time than Green-Beckham.

Green-Beckham’s recklessness goes back to his college days

Green-Beckham only spent two seasons at Missouri because his off the field incidents forced him to miss games during the season. During his freshman season, a drug possession arrest was the reason for his missed games. As a result, he was suspended from the team. He transferred to the University of Oklahoma and declared himself eligible for the draft after the season concluded.

The pros haven’t been any better for the wide receiver

Green-Beckham played all 16 games for the Titans in his rookie season. He had 32 receptions for 549 receiving yards and four touchdowns, via Lack of effort was rumored to be one of the reasons why he was traded to Philadelphia. In 2016, Green-Beckham played in 15 games for the Eagles and racked up 36 receptions, 392 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. Green-Beckham failed to show his worth.

The Eagles suffered a scare with Hicks reported that linebacker Jordan Hicks suffered a hand injury on Thursday while on a honeymoon trip to Greece. The injury could cause Hicks to miss the beginning of training camp but the report also mentions that the injury is nothing serious. Hicks will meet with the team’s doctors when he returns.

Peters continues to show his commitment to the organization

Left tackle Jason Peters deserves endless recognition. Peters signed a one-year contract extension on June 14th. This extension is worth mentioning because it helps the Eagles free up some cap space and that’s always good news. Peters continues to show his professionalism and dedication to the franchise and because of that, he deserves a round of applause. The 35-year-old left tackle will be 36 in January and who knows much he has left in the tank.

Things are still going according to schedule

In summary, the Eagles had somewhat of a busy day when it comes to news. The team is expected to start training camp on July 24th at the NovaCare Complex with the quarterbacks, rookies, and selected veterans. The first full-team practice will take place on July 27th.
