The Eagles Offense Shows Their Good Stuff Against The Dolphins

The Philadelphia Eagles claimed their 2nd preseason victory with a 38-31 win against the Miami Dolphins last night. Quarterback Carson Wentz finished with 129 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Wentz and the Eagles offense put on a show and demonstrated that they can inflict damage with the weapons that they have at their disposal. Miami’s offense managed to put 31 points and cornerback Ronald Darby did give up a big play against Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker, but this is something he is going to learn from. The Eagles are on a good path and have some big decisions to make at the end of the preseason when it comes to certain players.

The Running Game Is Starting To Pick Up The Pace

Here’s some good news for Philadelphia fans. The running game looked much better against the Dolphins. Running backs like LeGarrette Blount, Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood and Donnell Pumphrey all got touches. Clement continues to make a case for a spot in Philadelphia’s crowded backfield by scoring his second touchdown in a row against the Dolphins. Blount didn’t look that much better from last game, but he looked better. It’s a great sign to see the running game moving and expect to see more of it next week against the New York Jets.

Torrey Smith’s Touchdown Lights Up Eagles Offense

Meanwhile, wide receiver Torrey Smith exploded into the game with his only catch of the game. The best thing of his catch is that it was a 50-yard bomb from Wentz that resulted in a touchdown. It was a breath of fresh air to see Wentz throw a bomb to Smith because it’s what the Eagles offense needs to win games. Wentz and the offense need every player to step up and make plays. Rookie wide receiver Mack Hollins continued to shine for the offense and there should be no doubt that he’s going to start for the team sometime during the season.

Alshon Jeffery Catches His First Touchdown Of The Preseason

What about Alshon Jeffery? Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about him. Jeffery caught his first touchdown in an Eagles uniform and it’s about time. Jeffery caught two receptions for 35 receiving yards and a touchdown. He looked good in the time he played and he will be ready to show more next preseason game.

Zach Ertz Is Good At Catching The Ball

No doubt, tight End Zach Ertz deserves some recognition for a flawless performance. Ertz caught three receptions for 44 receiving yards. What’s so impressive about his performance? He was only targeted three times and caught all three of those targets. He made an incredible catch against the Miami defense that should have pumped Eagles fans up for the regular season.

Should Kendricks Stay?

Although the defense had a shaky performance against Miami, some things did go well. Linebacker Mychal Kendricks continues to impress and his performance should be making the Eagles organization question themselves. Should they keep Kendricks? I say why not? He’s shown that he can make plays and can bring something to the defense.

The Eagles Need All The Help They Can Get

The Eagles need all the help they can get on defense due to the fact a team can never have enough playmakers. In a division, that’s full of unpredictable teams and a potential Super Bowl candidate in the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia is going to need every single player to step up their game. The organization will have to make a decision on his future, sooner or later. Eagles fans better hope it’s the right one.

The Regular Season Is Almost Here

Another preseason game and another week closer to the regular season. The team is looking better each game and pieces will start to fit once the coaching staff figures out how they can bring the best out of their players. It’s starting to look like it’s coming soon because of Wentz and the Eagles offense put on a show in this game. The defense is expected to struggle, but also improve as the preseason comes to an end.
