Big Day For Julio Gives The Falcons A 3rd Straight Win

After a good game against the Seahawks, the Falcons came back home on fire. It was not just a big day for the offense, but it was a big day for Julio Jones. Division games are always the hardest, but the Falcons made it look easy all day. The defense went through some rough patches, but they came up big when needed. With the playoffs in sight, every game down the stretch is pivotal. Here are some observations from Week 12’s Falcons win.

Julio Could Not Be Stopped

Julio has been quiet this season. He only needed one game to show everybody he is still dangerous. Today against the Bucs, Jones showed us that he was more than dangerous, he is probably not human. He made big plays, small plays, and even caught a pass from Sanu. Ultimately, Jones finished the game with 253 yards and two touchdowns. Furthermore, Julio made history as the only player in NFL history with more than one 250 yard game. His big day reminded us that when he is on, nobody can stop him.

Offense Is Coming Together At Right Time

Like I said earlier, the Falcons made it look too easy today. They had over 500 yards of offense, and the Bucs did not have an answer. This offense is really starting to look like the one from last year. Steve Sarkisian is doing a great job dialing up plays that allow players to be effective. Mohamed Sanu was excellent all game; picking up crucial third down plays, and even throwing a touchdown. Tevin Coleman has had a great weekend. He had twins yesterday and had himself a pair of touchdowns today. Coleman has kept the run game going while Devonta Freeman is still out. Watch out NFL; the Falcons offense has found its groove.

Defense Loses Some Key Pieces

After the Falcons claimed a big lead, the Bucs ended up storming back in the game. That was mostly because they lost some key pieces. Brian Poole suffered a back injury and, as a result, left the game early. Desmond Trufant was next after suffering a concussion from friendly fire by Keanu Neal. Additionally, Robert Alford exited for a couple of plays following an injury. This is a situation to keep an eye on this week, as the team might be looking to sign another corner. Maybe a Jalen Collins return is possible?

Vikings Come To Town Next Sunday

Next, their Week 13 game against the Vikings will be big, but challenging. The Falcons offense will have to try to make things work against a top-tier defense. A matchup to watch for is Julio Jones and Xavier Rhodes. Rhodes has made a case for one of best corners in the league. After what Julio did today, he might have some extra motivation to come out playing hard. Atlanta just has to keep this strong play up, and they will have a chance next week.
