Deportivo La Coruña Sack Manager Pepe Mel After Poor Start

A Coruña, Spain – Deportivo La Coruña has determined to move the rest of the season without manager Pepe Mel. In addition, Cristobal Parralo replaces Mel for the remainder of the season.

Club president Tino Fernandez spoke directly with the Madrid born coach via telephone this morning to break the news to Mel and Depor subsequently issued an official statement this Tuesday confirming the decision.

Mel managed to keep Depor in the top flight after a difficult end to the 2016/17 campaign. However, with the poor start to the new season the president felt that the time had come for a change of coaching direction. The home defeat at the hands of newly promoted Girona this weekend was the last straw for Mel.

Mel becomes the fourth La Liga managerial casualty this season. He joins Fran Escriba (Villarreal), Luis Zubeldia (Alaves) and Las Palmas Manolo Marquez who resigned from this post.
