Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo ban five games for pushing referee

Madrid, Spain – Cristiano Ronaldo banned five games for pushing a referee during the Spanish Super Cup match on Sunday. He was given a one-match ban for being shown two yellow cards. Additionally, a further four for pushing the referee in the back after he had been sent off.

Ronaldo’s 24 minutes as a substitute at the Camp Nou saw him score a superb goal. He then pick up a booking for removing his shirt during the celebration. Last, he was quickly given a second yellow after Ricardo De Burgos Bengoetxea ruled Cristiano had dived to try to win a penalty.

Upset by the referee’s decision to dismiss him, Ronaldo shoved the official, which landed him in further hot water. He will miss Wednesday’s second leg. The 32-year-old has 10 days to appeal the suspension.

RFEF issued Ronaldo with a 3,005 euro ($3,543.20) fine and a four-match suspension in addition to the automatic one-game ban the player was due to serve for his red card.
