Manchester City Forward Nolito in talks with Real Betis over a possible return to La Liga

Manchester, England – Nolito in talks with Real Betis as he does not appear to part of Pep Guardiola’s plans. The January arrival of Brazilian ace Gabriel Jesus has only limited Nolito’s first-team chances further under Guardiola

Veteran journalist Nacho Vento of Canal Sur and Onda Bética‏ both report that talks have accelerated between the Spanish club and City over a deal to return the 30-year-old to his homeland.

Nolito has agreed to personal terms and it is “only a matter of time” before City sanction the move.

The former Celta and Benfica sparked interest to Betis city rivals Sevilla.

Nolito moved to City last summer in a £13.8million deal. However, after a bright start he has found himself out of favor and has not started a Premier League match in 2017.

Subsequently, Nolito’s major reason for taking a pay cut is to secure first-team status to win a place in Julen Lopetegui’s squad for Russia’s World Cup next year. He has scored six goals in 16 caps for his country.

City are expected to allow Nolito to leave on permanent deal with Betis contributing towards his wages.

The winger scored at least a dozen goals in each of his three seasons in Vigo, having come through the ranks at Barcelona B before finally establishing himself as a first-team star at Balaidos. While at City. Nolito played just 39 minutes of Premier League football in 2017, scoring just six goals in all competitions.

Also, the Andalusian club are hopeful of recruiting Quique Setien as their new coach for next season. The combination of manager Setien and Nolito would lift the spirits of Betis fans as the club sits three places above relegation zone.
