Former Villarreal Coach Marcelino joins Valencia as new manager of the Che club

Valencia, Spain – Former Villarreal Coach Marcelino joins Valencia as new manager of the Che club.

In a statement Valencia announced, “Valencia CF and Marcelino García Toral have reached a full agreement for him to be first team head coach for a minimum period of two seasons.”

Los Che have confirmed that current boss Voro will leave his role at the end of the current campaign.

Villarreal dismissed Marcelino on the eve of the current campaign. Due to this reason, the Che club was unable to sign him when they let Pako Ayesteran last September. La Liga ruled that Marcelino technically already managed one La Liga side that campaign.

Additionally, Las Palmas coach Quique Setien and Celta’s Eduardo Berizzo were options for the position as well.

Ayesteran was one of three permanent managers at the Mestalla this season along with Voro and Cesare Prandelli but despite a recent upturn in form, they still lie 13th in the division.

Valencia will present Marcelino after the last game of La Liga season. During this time, both parties will not speak to the media regarding the announcement.

Marcelino feels he has unfinished business after being sacked by El Submarino’s following a fall out with the board of directors.
