Eden Hazard fractures ankle while on international duty with Belgium

Brussels, Belgium – Days after acknowledging he would consider a Real Madrid move, Eden Hazard fractures ankle while on international duty with Belgium.

The Chelsea player incurred the injury in training at the National Football Center in Tubize on Sunday. This, of course, has now ruled him out of a friendly match against Czech Republic on Monday and the World Cup Qualifier in Estonia on June 9.

Hazard could miss up to eight weeks after a going through subsequent scan. The injury will now affect Hazard’s pre-season with Chelsea, and perhaps a move to Real Madrid.

However, the 26-year-old star refuses to rule out a move to the Spanish capital. “Of course I would consider it if Madrid made an offer,” Hazard said. “I am keen to win trophies. It would be great to win the Champions League. But Chelsea’s goal is to win the Champions League as well. Honestly I do not know what will happen.

“I only know that I still have a contract with Chelsea for three seasons and that we just had an amazing 2016-17 campaign. We want to continue on this path and want to build on this in the Champions League. “I am feeling very well at Chelsea. But you never know what will happen. I have not met the board yet to discuss a new deal.” Denied the forthcoming internationals, he added: “I want to think about football as little as possible.”

Belgium are top of World Cup Qualifying Group H, two points ahead of Greece. The have won four and drawing one of their five matches but they must now do without one of their key players.
